Wow. That is the word that comes to mind for this Fall conference. As I thought about what I'd talk about in this blog post I just felt an overwhelming influence of the spirit. There's so much I want to say. Bear with me as I try to organize my thoughts :) I hope each of you have received inspiration and have felt the spirit. It is so important to have not only open ears but an open heart as you listen to conference. Did you sense the theme of this conference? I noticed it has been focused on improving ourselves (Strengthening our weaknesses) and coming closer to Christ. The very first speaker of the first session yesterday was Dieter F. Uchtdorf. I kept thinking "What a great way to start off." Everything he mentioned just hit home for me. I loved how his talk focused on the simplicity of the gospel. That is also what I want this blog to portray. Like he mentioned "The gospel is so simple a child can grasp it." I also loved how he said: The deeper meaning for me of that quote is that Exaltation or in other words: PERFECTION is our goal. Discipleship or in other words: Where we are at now is our journey. I have always struggled with perfection. I hate to fail. I hate the idea of failure. But that is inevitable right now. Satan WANTS us to purposely fail. There will be times that we will fall short but that doesn't mean FAILURE. We can ALWAYS get back up. I have had to get back up countless times. Each time has been more triumphant than the last. Our shortcoming are O.K. I am still learning that aspect. Our loving Heavenly Father just wants us to try our best. He will be on our side as we do so.
I also felt that I should share a humbling experience during conference... It was in the first session Saturday morning as the choir sang "We thank thee oh God for a prophet" while the whole congregation stood up, as well as the Prophet, apostles, and other leaders. At that moment the spirit confirmed to me that the Gospel is REAL. It works. It is true. If you are struggling trying to grasp that, I encourage you to get on your knees and ask for yourself. The spirit will tell you. And you will understand that our Father in Heaven loves you more than you could ever ever comprehend. I have asked that question countless times and the answer has ALWAYS been " Yes, I love you." One of the speakers that I always look forward to during conference is Elder Holland. They are all so wonderful but he always stands out to me. I put one of his quotes as the quote of the week "Believe in God and yourself." each word has such a powerful meaning. Simply believing opens countless doors to feeling the spirit. I just love him. I also loved Thomas S. Monson's talk today. He simply said " Let your light so shine." What exactly does that mean? He shared 6 attributes which were... 1. Be an example in WORD and CONVERSATION. 2. Charity is the pure love of Christ. 3. Be an example in SPIRIT. Share your testimony. 4. Be an example in FAITH. 5. READ and PONDER the scriptures. and finally 6. Be PURE. Purity brings us peace of mind. Just like he promised if we do those things we will stand out. We will be different. (That is a good thing.) Another talk that hit home was Russell M. Nelson's when he talked about the sisters of the church. He said "We need your strength! Be defenders of MORALITY in a sin-sick world. Whatever your circumstances... we need your inspiration and influence.." and finally he said "Rise to your full stature." Which also reflects the purpose of this blog. In a world that is constantly falling, let's rise. Lets be an "example of the believers." We don't have to do it by ourselves. God will help us. Our Savior will give us strength. The Holy Ghost will comfort us as we do so. I love this gospel. I would be lost without it. I love it. And I love all of you. I hope you have loved this conference as much as I have. Happy Sabbath and have a wonderful week. Much love. Ness

Ponderize Of The Week:
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." - James 1:5-6 Quote Of The Week:
"Give it to God and go to sleep." - Unknown |
